Though
early in the year I thought it best to remind all parents about the
procedure when a student is absent from school.
- If
a student has been away for a period of 3 days or less a note of
explanation for that absence is to be given to the class teacher
immediately on their return.
- If
a student is going to be absent for longer than three days then the
office should be advised and they will pass the information on to
the class teacher. On the first day back to school the student must
have a note of explanation for the teacher.
- If
after 5 school days a student has not brought in a note explaining
an absence a reminder will be sent home.
- If
a student has continual unexplained absences from school the parents
will be contacted to arrange a meeting with the Principal.
The above
procedures are from the department’s policy on school attendance.
Attendance at school is compulsory by law. At Normanhurst West we have a
very good record of student attendance. I am sure that this will
continue.
