2009
This year our Anzac Service will be conducted by Class 4N. Special guest and ex- NWPS student, Matt Johnston, will be talking to the children about cadets. Matt is a Corporal in the Australian Army Cadets (AAC) at Normanhurst 226 Army cadet Unit and a student at Turramurra High School. More photos coming soon!

NWPS held an Anzac Service on Thursday 9th April.
The service was presented by Class 4N.

Special guest was Corporal Mathew Johnston from the Australian Army Cadets (AAC) at Normanhurst 226 Army Cadet Unit. He is also a student at Turramurra High School.

Matt is a former student from our school and was also School Captain.

He spoke about the activities he is involved in while at Cadets. He also showed the students other uniforms and equipment. After his talk he answered questions from the children.

Matt was an interesting speaker and the children were captivated by his charm & confidence.

One of the questions asked was whether Matt travelled much with the cadets..

Later this year Matt will be traveling to Papua New Guinea to walk along the Kokoda Track. Along the way the cadets will be helping in the villages. We look forward to hearing about this journey.

Thank you Matt!!!

In 2004  our special assembly to commemorate Anzac Day was held on Wednesday 7th April. The ceremony was organised by Mrs Sharpe and was presented by the children.
A new addition to our assembly this year were  presentations and displays by children about family members who have been in our Armed Services. (Click here to see photos)
Also this year there was a special display of World War I memorabilia provided by Warwick Sharpe.
Parents, friends and families were all welcome to join us. Special invitations were extended to ex-servicemen or women to join us on this day

Below is the invitation to our school families to present information about family members who have been in the armed services.

There are many children in our school who have a special interest in Anzac Day because they have a family member who has been involved in our Armed Services.
I have heard a lot of interesting stories from the children and I am pleased that they treasure the history of their families.
This year I would like to incorporate some of these stories into our Anzac Service.
There will be a display of Anzac memorabilia and any input would be appreciated, photos, items, letters, stories, etc.

Written information that could be included:
name, date of birth, relationship of student at NWPS,  date and age of enlistment, unit, rank, serial number, division, date of return to Australia, date of death, etc

Also, family history and service record.

Please forward any information to me or contact me through the school office.  If you haven’t already put together information and memorabilia about a member of your family who has been involved on our Armed Services, maybe, now would be an excellent time to do so. Your family and our school could benefit greatly.

Contact me if you have any queries or suggestions.

Thank you
Irene Sharpe (Organizer of the Anzac Service)
