AN EXPLANATION OF YOUR STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT

February 2009

Dear Parents,

With this letter you will receive your Term 1, 2009 Statement of Account.  One account per family is issued.  All amounts owing for your family are on this Statement.

Payment for all Term 1 excursions and performances listed on the statement is due by the last Tuesday of this term, April 7, 2009.

Failure to finalise Term 1 payments by this date as outlined in our Non-payment Policy will mean the possible exclusion of your child from further activities throughout the year.   Please be aware that the school pays all performers and venues up front.   Your prompt payment on behalf of your child is very much appreciated.

An explanatory letter for each excursion and performance will be sent home as the event nears.  If you wish your child to participate in each excursion or performance, please immediately sign the permission notes and return to the class teacher.

This year for parents with children in Years 3 – 6 a Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) Levy has been included. This is not a school levy but one charged by our local PSSA to each school who participates in zone carnivals. Our school participates in swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals during the year. The levy also supports the organisation and running of the weekly interschool sports program of which we participate in terms 2 & 3. The levy amount is set by the zone and is calculated by the number of students in years 3 – 6.

You may find that your statement of account includes amounts for 2008 activities.  Please attend to payment of these amounts promptly.

Voluntary contribution instalment payments can be made throughout the year up until December 15, 2009.

As our school uses a security banking pickup service, you are reminded that payments can only be accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please forward payment directly to the class teacher, not the office.  Credit card and EFTPOS payments cannot be accepted.

Your continued support of the teaching and learning programs at Normanhurst West Public School is very much appreciated.

Yours faithfully,
B. Kunkler
Principal

TERM 1 EXCURSION / INCURSION INFORMATION

DRAMA PROGRAM K-3

Drama has been taught at our school for the past three years under the guidance of Karyn Johnson, a specialist Drama teacher. Drama lessons have developed confidence in the children and have brought enjoyment to all students. Drama classes have once again been scheduled for this term and commenced 3rd February.

The program this year, “The Mystery…The History…The Theatre” will aim to teach students how performance has always been part of our lives but changed over time. The children will enjoy familiar drama games and learn some new fun games while discovering how life in the past influences our lives today.

DRUMBEATS K-6

Drumbeats is an exciting percussion performance highlighting mass participation.  Children view an engaging performance and then each child has a hands-on experience creating their own rhythms and music using one of the magnificent drums supplied by the Drumbeats performers.

TRI-SKILLS 2-6

Your child will be participating in a General Gymnastics Program conducted by the staff of Tri Skills Australia.

General Gymnastics is a generic activity and will through the four basics of fun, fitness, fundamentals and friendship, generate a competence which provides an opportunity for all to develop within their capabilities.  General Gymnastics incorporates the dominant movement patterns of spring, landings, rotations, statics, swing and locomotion activities.

In years 5 and 6 students are encouraged to develop their own routines.  These may be on the floor, the beam or the parallel bars.
