This is an open forum for all parents of our school. If you have never attended a P&C meeting before please attend at least once a year. The P&C needs your support to be able to actively reflect our community's opinions. Meetings are held in the OOSH/Pre-school building on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:45pm. For only $1 per year you can become a voting member.
For updated news from our P&C, please see our Newsletter pages and minutes from previous meetings.

FROM THE P&C
The P&C is here to support our children at the School. There are many sub-committees that need your input.
Please think about volunteering for a position or giving up some time to help with rosters i.e. Canteen, Band, OOSH, Fun Day etc.
These services add to the attractiveness of our School and help to foster our community spirit.
Normanhurst West Public School has a wonderful reputation for community spirit – why not add to it!

Planned P&C meetings for the year 2009 are:
Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 Term 4
Tuesday, 17th February
Tuesday, 17th March   -   AGM

.

P&C Meetings are a wonderful way of meeting other parents within the school community.  They provide a great opportunity to hear reports from our Principal, School Council and Sub-Committees on what is happening in the school and P&C.  You can participate in discussion on any issues that may arise.  At the AGM you will hear the reports on the P&C activities for 2007.

INFORMATION AND AN INVITATION FROM THE P&C

Did you know…

the Constitution of the Normanhurst West Public School P & C outlines the objectives of the P & C as:

“… to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close cooperation:

…to assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.”

·         the P & C has several sub-committees.  Without the P & C and its’ sub-committees the school would not have the everyday services of Out Of School Hours (OOSH) care, Uniform Pool, Student Banking, Training and Concert Bands and a diamond accredited Canteen.  The school and school community also currently benefit from efforts from several other committees such as Craft, Grounds, Building (for the proposed Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA)), with the major school fundraising activity organized by the Family Fun Day Committee.

  • Sub Committee Office Bearers (Convenor, Secretary and Treasurer) are only to serve in the same position for up to 3 consecutive years.  P & C Executive Office Bearers may only serve in the same position for up to 2 consecutive years.   This allows time for new parents to participate and learn from experienced committee members so they may feel confident in taking over a role of Office Bearer.  Planning for our future is the key to a continuing strong and active P & C.
  • The focus of the P & C may seem to be its fundraising activities, however, the aim of the P & C is to also provide facilities and represent the interests of the parent community in the school.  Have you considered participating?  We want your opinion.  We can only make decisions or recommendations regarding funding or facilities and the operation of sub committees based on the discussion or debate presented at the P & C meetings.

Did you know if everyone thought “someone else will go and do it” then no one will and your P & C and its services will not survive?
