Tumpinyeri is a patch of bushland in the grounds of Normanhurst West Public School, Sydney, Australia. It is a special place, both for the children at the school, and for the plants and animals that live there. Over 140 species of plant grow in Tumpinyeri. Many of them are found only in the Blue Gum High Forest, which used to cover a lot of Sydney's North Shore, but only 1% (that's 1/100th) of the forest is now left. Tumpinyeri is an important reserve for these plants, and for the animals that depend on them.
